Ms. Deborah Mayhorn

Deborah Vickie Mayhorn, (known to many as Auntie Vickie), was born on March 16, 1953, to George and Alberta Lee, who both preceded her in death. Vickie was Number 8 (eight) of 10 (ten) children of which Norman, Yvonne, Patricia, Cheryl, Albert (Squeaky), Brenda and Lynn who all preceded her in death. Vickie attended Shoop Elementry School and Morgan Park High School. Thereafter, she received her General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Vickie attended Olive Harvey and Malcom X Community College. While attending college Vickie was employed at the newspaper stand at the “L” station located on 95th State, known to us now as the Red Line. Working in that environment, many friendships were developed and many hearts were touched by her on a day to day bases. After graduating college, Vickie continued on with her professional journey working at the VA for a short span, then transitioned to the Economics Development Administration (EDA). While making her mark at that company she came in contact with many souls as she traveled the United States until her retirement in 2010. In the mist of her professional progression, on July 8, 1971, Vickie was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnny Loren Mayhorn III (who proceeded her in death). Of that union their love blossomed and Brandon Craig (Uncle Buddy, deceased), Tanya Simone (Fat face), Loren Marcellas (Cousin Yacky, deceased) and Carla Danita (Me-Me) was created. Vickie loved life, her family and friends. She never missed a beat and when she stepped out she was always on point with her fashion and always kept her hair slayed. And let’s not forget you couldn’t tell her absolutely anything when she pulled out that fur coat. Her giving and willing spirit was shown throughout her life, she was loved by all that she knew. Auntie Vickie will be missed by many. She will especially be missed by my father who would only eat her cooking. Auntie Vickie leaves to cherish her memory and honor her legacy: 2 (two) beautiful daughters Tanya and Carla, 2 (two) loving sisters Janice Malone of Houston, TX and Lillian Blackmon of Chicago, IL, 8 (eight) grandchildren, Tiara, LeMorisle, Jasmine, Roneasha, Ronjenee, Brandon, Kyarah, and Isiah. 3 (three) great grandkids, Zymeire, Darielle and Mary, uncles, aunts, and a host nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great nieces and nephews, and an abundance of cousins.
