Ms. LaCretia Reed

LaCretia Reed was born on June 18, 1978, in Chicago, Illinois, at Cook County Hospital, to Roger Reed and Jessie Reed. She was the first and only child born of this union. As a child and adolescent, LaCretia was always curious and asked many questions such as: How did life begin? Why are we here? Why do innocent people suffer? What happens when we die? To which she received her answers from her ,basic study of the book “My Book Bible Stories” and “What The Bible Teaches.” These were her Bible study aids. LaCretia attended Joyner/Child parent Center of Chicago IL, when she was in Kindergarten. Later LaCretia attended John M. Smyth Elementary 1st through 8th grade, were she graduated in 1991. LaCretia later attended Wendell Phillips Academy High School, on the southside of Chicago. LaCretia also went on to Attend Olive Harvey College. LaCretia was happily but briefly married to John Throwsnyder in 2008. To this union 2 children were born. LaCretia was a good wife and mother. LaCretia developed a love for styling hair at an early age, she always loved styling her baby dolls hair. Growing up during her years in high school, it was evident that LaCretia would be gifted at working with her hands and providing a service to others. LaCretia worked in various beauty salons and barbershops around the City of Chicago to help support herself, and her family. LaCretia became known for her creative ability to style hair LaCretia had a host of family and friends, as clients for many years. LaCretia was loved by many of her neighborhood and school friends. LaCretia loved life, she brought joy and laughter to those who she loved with a joke or two. Anyone that knew LaCretia knew she was sweet, sassy, giving, caring, and loving. Also, she was known to be strong minded and always did things her way. LaCretia will be remembered for her appreciation and Love for Traveling, Cooking, Dancing, and her special gift to make people Beautiful. In addition to that, what her family and friends loved most about LaCretia was her ability to make you laugh and smile. LaCretia has always been a gifted, beautiful, and kind person. She developed a unique ability to interact with others and the ones she loved. In the early afternoon of Sunday, August 7, 2022, LaCretia fell asleep while taking her last breath, surrounded by love ones. Proceeding LaCretia in death her are her Grandparents: Roger Lee Reed Sr. & Maggie Reed and Walter McDowell Sr. & Bessie Mae McDowell; Uncles: Walter McDowell Jr., Chris McDowell, Leon McDowell, Charles McDowell, Willie Cohen, Joseph Cohen, and Ozell Cohen; Aunties: Emma Lee Johnson, JoAnn Williams, Pearlie Smith, and Wille Mae Morton. LaCretia leaves to mourn her passing: Her Mother Jessie Mae Young (Joe); Her Father Roger Lee Reed Jr.; Sons: Hasson Lametro McDowell, Lontaye Hayslett Reed, LaShawn Reed, VaShawn Reed, and John Throwsnyder Jr.; Daughters: Cormesha Lashay Crawford, LaMesha Reed, Johniyah Elizabeth Throwsnyder, and Angel Reed; Brothers: Tywond Hamilton (Erica) of Posen, IL, Joseph W. Young, Joshua J.C. Young, Armel J. Young, Matthew Reed, Zachariah Reed, Ashton Reed, and R.J. Reed, all of Chicago, IL; Sisters: Laticia M. Young, Larissa D. Young, Jessica J.
