Lucille Driver

Lucille Burnett Robinson Driver was born on March 22, 1927 in Moorhead, Mississippi to Jerry and Felton Burnett. She was the second born out of seven children. Lucille made her way with her family to Chicago, Illinois where she met and married the love of her life, E.M. Driver. They lived a very full and happy life together until his death in 1986. She was the mother of eight children. Besides being a hardworking wife and mother, she made a positive impact outside the home. Lucille Driver received her high school diploma while working as a factory worker and later got her Bachelor's degree from Chicago State University. She taught for decades as a Chicago public high school teacher where she retired. After retirement, her love for teaching didn't end, she happily taught Special Education at Malcolm X College. In 1966, Lucille came into contact with Jehovah's Witnesses. With a thorough examination of the scriptures and with strong conviction, Lucille was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 13, 1987. She became a full time minister on September 1, 1997. Throughout her career as a Bible student she wanted her family, friends and all she came into contact with to serve Jehovah side by side with her. She made many great memories at various congregations while making lasting friendships. Riverdale and South English were her most recent congregations. She had a deep love for her family, books, teaching, reading and writing. Of everything and everyone she taught, she received her greatest joys in teaching others about Jehovah God. Lucille was a skilled seamstress as well as an avid traveler finding her ways to such places like Africa, Denmark and Italy. She was also known for her competitive card playing running her favorite Five Low's in the game Bid Whist. On January 28, 2016, Sister Lucille Driver fell asleep in death. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her dear husband, E.M.; two children, Geraldine and Lorenzo; and one grandchild, Henry Jr. (HJ). Lucille will be greatly missed by all, but especially those she leaves to cherish her loving memories, one brother, John "Buddy" Burnett; six children, Lavenia, Irving, Ernestine, Pam (John), Phyllis, and Edward "Mark"; grandchildren, Jamel, Donna, Lavinia, Rasheeda, Kareem, Angela (Robert), JeVon (Louise), JaVan (Terrie), Carmen, Brandy, Brittani, Erika and Symone; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
