Sylvester Craig Foy

Sylvester Craig Foy was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 5, 1964, to the union of Willie and Geraldine Foy. He was the fourth of eight children. He attended Thornwood High School graduating in June 1982. In 1982, Sylvester began to study the Bible and progressed to the point of dedication to Jehovah on June 22, 1985. As a champion of God’s word, he found delight in studying it daily. He spiritually directed his family in regular and meaningful family worship and Bible reading programs. ?On January 14, 1984 Sylvester married the sweetheart and love of his life Shirley Ann Hackett. This 28-year union produced three beautiful children, Craig, Darien and Sierra. As an industrious and hardworking family head, Sylvester worked in the construction profession, starting with various concrete companies; eventually honing his skills in carpentry, concrete and ceramic tile to start his own family business. ?Sylvester’s life course expressed the spirit of Isaiah 6:8, “Here I am Send me.” He found immense joy serving as a volunteer worker at the U.S. Bethel Branch. He enjoyed the spiritual environment Bethel afforded him. He tirelessly worked on many projects through out the Brooklyn, Wallkill and Patterson Branch facilities. He too found tremendous delight serving as a Project Coordinator for Illinois Regional Building Committee #3. ?Over the years, Sylvester was known for preaching, fishing, barbequing, interacting with his family, friends and the love he had for his grandchildren Craig & Maliyah. In imitation of Jesus, Sylvester had compassion for people in dire straights. His big heart would move him, regardless of the time of day, to assist where there was a need. He was very tender to the needs of others, especially young people. As a faithful servant of Jehovah for many years, Brother Foy humbly and faithfully completed any assignment he was given. He always wanted things done Jehovah’s way so that his will could be done. He served in various capacities including as an elder, Theocratic Ministry School overseer, Field Service Group Overseer and Watchtower Overseer. Sylvester received and fulfi?lled his last assignment to attend the Elders School in March 2012. Sylvester’s faithful course ended on May 10, 2012, he now awaits the firm hope he held so precious – the Resurrection. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie L. Foy Sr. ?He is survived by his precious, loyal wife of 28 years, Shirley; three children, Craig, Darien and Sierra; two grandchildren, Craig Jr. and Maliyah; mother Geraldine Foy; sisters, Jackie and Joyce; brothers, Willie Jr. (Tonya), Darryl (Angelia), Brian, Derrick and Keith; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a myriad of friends.
