Ms. Vickie Woodley

Vickie was born September 12, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the middle child of three children. Vickie attended Hirsch High School, then went on to finish her degree from Jones Commercial. Studying English at the established Harold Washington, Kennedy King College and New Horizons, Vickie continued on to pursue a career in business administration, accounting, management, housing, data and computer technical fields. While having worked a host of Administrative and Clerical Responsibilities, Vickie attended the City Wide Colleges of Chicago, where she took courses in Business Administration enhancing her skills. Bookkeeping was her specialty she was savvy with her numbers working in payroll and accounting throughout her life. Very technical through her education and working in environments of the fields of P.C. and Business machines. Before retiring from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Vickie worked for The Chicago Housing Authority where she was deeply respected as a Pillar in her Community, and Neighbor. Working 13+ years for the Chicago Housing Authority she helped with the mission of Combating Alcohol and Drugs Through Rehabilitation and Education services assisting with all administrative correspondence. Vickie retired from Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 2008 committing 12 years in security processing. Vickie married and born to them, was one son. She later re-married and three children were born from this union. Raising her family on the South Side of Chicago with a well known presence. She will be remembered for her jazziness, her beautiful singing voice, her style and fashion sense, the artist and painter she was, a teacher, an original Girls Scout Leader, and her very active and expressive nature for swimming, biking, camping, skating, dancing, walking, a forever young soul. One of her last wishes was to go to Colorado Springs to go hiking before she passed, she was hoping to see the Grand Canyon before her days ended. Vickie loved and dedicated her life to Jehovah God at an early age. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where she loved serving Jehovah, going to meetings and being in the ministry. You would find Vickie in field service, teaching Bible studies, attending conventions, door-to-door, singing out joyfully to Jehovah, passing out literature and cherished praising the Lord. Serving Jehovah 20+ years, Vickie always enjoyed helping and teaching others, she continued on as a faithful and dedicated Bible student attending the Pershing, South Town and Kenwood Congregations for many years until her health prevented her services. Nothing could keep her from serving Jehovah, although we may fall short she walked as righteously as able, living according to the word of GOD, always being spiritually fed and feeding others. Vickie loved to read her Bible, studying, meditating, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring, sweet, kind woman, devoted Christian, mother, and friend, sister, wife, aunt, and always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.” She loved the Friends at the Hall whom always supported her, she was very grateful and thankful for. Vickie Jean Woodley, 74 years of age, fell asleep in death on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sibling.
